About Centerline Rodding & Drain: Evanston Drain & Sewer Specialists
We specialize exclusively in sewer rodding, high-pressure hydro jetting, and optical camera scoping for century-old clay sewer laterals and municipal combined sewer systems across Evanston and the northern suburbs.

Why We Specialize Exclusively in Drains and Sewer Lines
General residential plumbing encompasses a sprawling range of fixtures—water heaters, faucet cartridges, copper supply lines, and gas piping. But when a main sewer line backs up into a vintage Evanston basement or mature tree roots strangle a 100-year-old vitrified clay lateral, general hand tools and lightweight sink augers simply cannot solve the problem.
Centerline Rodding & Drain was built specifically around the unique underground engineering challenges of the northern Cook County suburbs. From the combined sewer street mains of Evanston to the massive mature parkway trees of Wilmette, Winnetka, and Skokie, our entire equipment inventory, technician training, and rapid dispatch protocol are dedicated to restoring gravitational sewer flow.
Because we focus entirely on drain snaking, power rodding, hydro jetting, and sewer camera scoping, our service trucks arrive equipped with heavy continuous steel cabling, industrial root-cutting sawheads, and self-leveling optical push cameras capable of diagnosing structural pipe conditions on the spot.
Direct Local Dispatch
Dispatched directly from 2200 Main St in Evanston for rapid North Shore arrival.
Dedicated Cleanout Care
Heavy containment drop cloths and tidy cleanout sealing to protect finished basements.

The Equipment We Bring to Every Evanston Service Call
Clearing dense taproots out of 100-year-old clay bell joints requires heavy commercial power. Here is what is on board our service rigs.
Continuous-Feed Motorized Rodders
We utilize continuous inner-core steel cabling driven by high-torque electric power rodding gearboxes. Unlike lightweight homeowner snakes that twist into knots, these cables transfer maximum rotational torque through the entire 100-foot run of your lateral.
- 3/4-inch aircraft-grade steel inner core
- Dual-blade C-cutters and carbide root saws
Regulated Hydro Jetters
Trailer-mounted and portable water jetters delivering high-velocity water streams calibrated specifically under 4,000 PSI to strip grease, scale, and organic buildup without compromising fragile vintage clay joints.
- Specialized ceramic rotating penetrating nozzles
- Cast-iron descaling chain flails
Optical Color Push Cameras
High-definition self-leveling optical cameras encased in waterproof stainless steel with adjustable LED arrays. Every camera features an integrated 512 Hz transmitting sonde for pinpoint above-ground depth tracing.
- HD video playback with digital footage counters
- Sub-surface electromagnetic depth locators

What to Expect on a Centerline Rodding Call
Direct Triage Questions
When you call (321) 559-0657, our dispatcher asks specific questions: Which fixtures are backing up? Is there sewage on the floor? Is the cleanout accessible in the basement or yard? This ensures we dispatch the right equipment immediately.
Cleanout Inspection & Containment
Upon arrival, technicians wear shoe coverings and lay canvas floor protection. We inspect your main cleanout cap, relieve trapped hydrostatic pressure safely into catchment containers, and examine the line with an initial camera or mechanical probe.
Mechanical Rodding or Jetting Pass
We drive rotating carbide cutting heads through the pipe, slicing taproots flush against the clay pipe walls and pushing debris through to the municipal main. If heavy grease or scale is present, hydro jetting is applied.
Video Camera Verification & On-Site Review
We push our optical camera through the entire lateral to the city connection. We show you the live monitor feed right in your basement, verifying that the bore is 100% open and identifying any joint offsets or structural fractures.
